Application of this Privacy Policy
When this Privacy Policy mentions “Industry Training Online,” “ITO,” “Waste Industry Training,” “WIT,” “W-I- T,” “we,” “us,” or “our,” it refers to Industry Training, LLC, the entity that acts as the Data Processor of your information. WIT has three major vendors that provide our website forms, host our website, and provide our Leaning Management System, collectively called “Service Providers”). WIT provides mobile and web applications on behalf many local governments, private and public companies and non-profit organizations (collectively, “Our Clients”). This privacy policy applies to each natural person (“you” or “your”) using our web and mobile applications (collectively, the “Services”), which may have been branded under the name of one of Our Clients, as well as any interactions you may have directly with WIT, be it through reporting a problem or feedback to us or other communication. This policy does not apply to interactions between you and any of Our Clients.
Information We Collect and How We Use It
We and our Service Providers collect information to provide, maintain, and improve our Services. There are two categories of information we collect: information you give us and information we collect automatically when you use our Services. By providing information to us and using our services, you consent to our processing of your personal information as set forth in this policy. Information You Give Us Some of our Services require you to provide information directly to us, such as your street address, postal code, phone number or email address. We always try to collect the minimal amount of information required in order to provide the Services you request. The information we collect depends on which services you use: Information Collected by our Service Providers: In order to associate you with an organization/company, we collect your name and the address, including its street address number, street name, city, postal code, and phone number of your organization. Information Collected when you sign up for Notifications: When you sign up for a course, event, or our newsletter, we collect contact information that is required to send you those notifications. This may include your email address, your phone number and/or twitter username, depending on the notification method(s) you select. Information Collected When You Report Problems or Feedback: If you use our Services to report a problem or submit feedback, we may ask for your email or other information. This information will be used to solve your problem and reply with a solution or a response. We may also provide you with the option of sending your current location or a photo to us which we use to help understand and resolve any problems you may be experiencing with our Services. Information We Collect Automatically When you Use Our Services When you use our Services, our Service Providers automatically collect information, including some personal information, about the Services you use and how you use them. Usage Information: As with most technology services, our Service Providers may collect and log information when you use our Services. This includes your IP Address, Information about the content you are viewing (e.g. it’s URL or a course), the time that content is accessed, and the type of browser and device you are using. This information is used in order to monitor the use of our Services and to help ensure the security of our Services, such as by helping to detect and prevent intruders from accessing your personal information. It is also used to report aggregated information about who is using our Services so that we can make improvements to the experience for everyone. Mobile Device Information: Our Service Providers may collect additional information about your mobile device when you use a mobile application that is powered by the LMS provider. This includes the type of device (e.g. whether Mac, PC, iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, iPad, etc.), the operating system (e.g. Windows, iOS, Android, etc.) and version, a unique identifier, and crash data when a software defect occurs. This information is used to improve the experience of our mobile applications, and fix software defects. Cookies and Similar Technologies: WIT or it’s Service Providers uses cookies to help improve your experience when you use our Services. These cookies help your web browser remember any information you have entered, such as your postal code or address, so you do not need to re-enter it every time you use the service. Cookies also allow our Service Providers to gather information about how many people are using our Services, and how they use them so that we can make improvements to the overall experience. You may disable the use of cookies in your web browser’s settings, but this may limit your use of WIT’s Services.
How We Retain Your Information
WIT only keeps personal information for as long as it is needed to provide Services. Information about how you use our Services is recorded in the logs of our Service Providers. Securely encrypted backups, which are only accessible by a limited number of WIT’s staff and/or the Service Providers staff, remain in existence for 120 days. Except where we are required to retain your information for legal reasons.
How We Share and Disclose Your Information
WIT engages third part companies as service providers to process your information, such as securely running our Services on a cloud-computing platform. These providers have limited access to your personal data and are contractually obligated to protect and only use your information for the purposes it was disclosed, consistent with this Privacy Policy. We may also disclose your name, address and other contact information to Our Clients as needed in order for Our Clients to provide a service to you.
International Data Transfers
WIT is based in the United States of America. All personal information is transmitted securely and stored on servers which are located in secure data centres in the United States of America. Information will be accessed only by WIT or employees, agents, or Service Providers of WIT for the purposes described in ths Privacy Policy. If you are an individual located in the European Economic Area, please note that WIT complies with European Union data protection laws, specifically in regard to International Data Transfers. WIT is a company based in the United States of America, a country deemed to have an adequate level of data protection by the European Commission, and WIT ensures that all service providers that process your personal information are self-certified under the E.U.-US. Privacy Shield.
